Thank you to everyone that came out to the series finale. I hope that everyone enjoyed the season. Results for the race and series have been posted on our results page

What a big change in the weather today brought from what had been forecasted during the week; once again proving the best job to have where you can be wrong and not get fired is a weather forecaster. Results have been posted for the race at USA Cycling and the series results are on our Results Page

Next week is our series finale; the Sizzler held at Bur Mill Park by Greensboro Fat Tire Society, online registration To make things easier print off this USAC Waiver for annual license holders, fill out and bring with you to save time.

Only 2 races left for the season. Next weekend will be the Hobby Park race being put on by Cycletherapy along with other shops in Winston-Salem. The temperatures should be a little cooler than the 90s we've been having. Make sure to pre-register thru USACycling in order to make it quicker for you on race day (no waiver to sign). Have you ever wanted to try something a little more than XC but didn't want to go full Downhill? We have a Super D race on Saturday that's just right for you.

Results have been updated and posted, reminder the series is the best 8 of 11 races.

There seem to have been several issues with the USAC Series Points standing page that have not been resolved. I do apologize for any inconveniences and heart acke this has caused any of our participants. With this being said, my hand done spreadsheet is back for the series. It is currently updated thru race #8, it does not yet include this past weekends Battle of the Bikes at Country Park event but I will work on that next (which requires dropping some races for riders as it is the best 8 of 11 for the series). We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding. Series results on on our site now, click here.

Don't forget our next series event is at the newly renovated (by unknown trail gnomes) and will again be a bonus points event (1/2 max points of your category, i.e. Cat 1 is 60 points per rider). Online registration is located here.

Just in case you had not seen the udated Flyer or previous announcement, the Hobby Park will be held on August 3rd. We are also working on getting the series results corrected on the USA Cycling site.

Sorry to have been way for a while, a lot of issues have arisen as of later.

Date change for Hobby Park, it has now been moved to August 3rd due to scheduling conflicts with Parks & Recreation.

One week left until the Dark Mountain race in North Wilkesboro. Weather forecast is looking good with sunny and 76 degrees. This should be a great day for racing along with hanging out with friends and even competitors (haha).

We are looking forward to next wekeends event, Southern Virgina Shootout in Danville, VA. Pre-registration is highly recommended and available at www.usacycling.org/register/2014-614.

Need a little something extra to eat while you're on the trail? You're in luck coming on board this season will be Bonk Breaker, the deal was just struck today, you will see the yummy bars first at the Southern Virginia Shootout in Danville, VA.

Juniors for 2014, for the series we are creating a Junior Cat 1 and Junior Cat 2 category. This is NOT being broken down by age group AND the individual races will NOT be required to have awards. These Juniors will participate with the 19-29 year old category and will be scored in that group for the race.

The series will then also recalculate your placement based on only Juniors so they will get Cat 1 or Cat 2 Junior points. You must hold a USA Cycling license with the appropriate category in order to participate in Cat 1.

The regular Junior classes are still in the series, those will have awards at each individual event. There is a 14 & Under and 15 -18 for the boys and 18 & Under for the girls.

New for this season. The 2014 Southern Classic MTB Series number plate. Yes, we will be using the same number plate throughout the season.

We hope everyone is gearing up and thinking about the upcoming season for 2014. Below is a listing of the 2014 Southern Classic MTB Series.

The series will continue to utilize events that are permitted thru USA Cycling as we continue our long relationship with them.

All races in the series will be qualifiers for the USA Cycling Cross-Country Mountain Bike National Championships being held at Bear Creak Resort, PA.

We are currently awaiting confirmation that Southern Virginia Shootout with be the USA Cycling VA State Championship. South Carolina State Championship will consist of The Knot MTB Race and Race to the River at Harbison State Forest. As for North Carolina, USA Cycling has awarded this to Storm Racing for their event at Uwharrie.

We would also like to give a big shout out to our newest series sponsors

As some of you may have heard, USAC is now requiring a 1-day license for any MTB racer who does not already hold an annual. Cat 1 racers have always been required to hold an annual, but up to this point Cat 2 and Cat 3 MTB racers havn't had to have a license at all. SO, an Cat 1 or Cat 2 racer who does not hold an annual license must purchase a 1-day at any USAC sanctioned event to participate in ($10). If you're considering doing multiple races, an annual would probably be the way to go. An annual license will be good for 3 disciplines of cycling for all of 2014 -- mountain, road and cyclo-cross. Who knows, maybe you'll get hooked onto a discipline you've never done before!

More info on licenses:

If you are interested in helping sponsor the series as a whole, or an individual race with product or monetary means, great! Contact us for a list of sponsorship options.
